Child Depression Symptoms - Long Depression
Check List Inventory
- A persistent sad, anxious or 'empty' mood
- Loss of interest in ordinary activities
- Decreased energy and fatigue.
- Sleep problems (insomnia or sleeping too
much)
- Eating problems (excessive weight loss
or gain)
- Difficulty concentrating, remembering or
making decisions
- Feelings of hopelessness or pessimism
- Feelings of guilt, worthlessness or helplessness
- Thoughts of death or suicide or a suicide
attempt
- Irritability
- Excessive crying
- Recurring aches and pains that don't respond
to treatment
- Reduced ability to experience pleasure
- Loss of interest in sex
- Reduced self-esteem
- Periods of intense activity followed by
periods of inactivity
- Withdrawn
- Being physically slowed down
- Depressed most of the day
- Hyperactive or slowed behavior and responses
- Withdrawal from friends and family
- Neglect of personal appearance
Not everyone who is depressed experiences
all of the above symptoms.
Depression is indicated if six or more of these symptoms have
persisted for a period of weeks or months.
